Privacy
This page explains what iWSheng Blog records, why, and for how long. It is generated from the site's current settings and changes when they change.
Visit statistics
- The pages you open, the site that sent you here, your browser and OS, screen size, language, time zone, and how long you stayed on a page, how far you scrolled and whether you finished reading. This shows which posts get read and where readers come from.
- The IP address the server sees, and the country, city and network provider looked up from it (using a local IP database; nothing is sent elsewhere).
- A random visitor ID stored in the "mx_vid" cookie (one year) and in your browser's localStorage, so visits from the same browser can be linked. It contains no name or other identity.
- Which outbound links you clicked, use of the share button, what you searched for on this site, and links that led to missing pages.
- Once a day your browser asks ip.sb (a third-party service) for its own IP address and reports it here, to compare with the IP the server sees and detect proxies or VPNs. Your browser sends this request to ip.sb directly.
- Visits by the site owner while signed in are not recorded. Crawlers from search engines and AI companies are logged by name, URL and time only.
How long it is kept
- Per-visit details (including IP addresses) are kept for 180 days and then deleted automatically; crawler logs for 90 days.
- Daily totals (such as page views per day and countries) are kept indefinitely. They contain no IP addresses or visitor IDs.
Comments
- The name, email and website you enter, and the comment itself. Name, website and comment are shown publicly; the email is never shown and only the site owner can see it.
- A one-way hash of your IP address (the original IP cannot be recovered) and your browser's User-Agent, used to stop spam.
- So you don't have to type them again, your name, email and website are saved in your own browser's localStorage and not sent anywhere else.
- Comments are kept until deleted; contact the site owner if you want yours removed.
Newsletter
- The email you enter and the interface language at that time. You’re only subscribed after clicking the link in the confirmation email; then you get an email for each new post.
- Every email has an unsubscribe link. After unsubscribing, the address and the time are kept so no one can sign you up again; contact the site owner to remove it completely.
Other things stored in your browser
- Your light or dark mode choice (localStorage).
- A cookie for each password-protected post you unlock (starting with "myx_unlock_", 30 days), so you don't need to enter the password again.
How to opt out
- This site does not currently stop recording based on Do Not Track (DNT) or Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals.
- Blocking the statistics script (/_m/p.js) with an ad or privacy blocker, or disabling cookies and JavaScript, stops recording. Posts remain readable.
- Clearing this site's cookies and site data gives you a new visitor ID.
Sharing
- The data stays on this site's own server and only the site owner can see it. It is not sold or shared with advertisers. There are no ads and no third-party analytics.
